NHS-funded check for adults 40 and over, giving you your reading in minutes and clear advice on what to do next

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, so many people are living with it without knowing. Our NHS-funded blood pressure check is a simple way to find out where you stand. It is aimed at adults aged 40 and over who have not been diagnosed with high blood pressure. We can also carry out checks at the request of your GP surgery.

What happens at your appointment

The pharmacist will measure your blood pressure using a cuff on your upper arm. It takes only a few minutes and is not uncomfortable.

You will be told your reading straight away and what it means. Depending on the result, the pharmacist may:

  • Give you advice on healthy habits that support your blood pressure
  • Arrange a further check, including a 24-hour monitor to wear at home where this is needed
  • Refer you to your GP, urgently if the reading calls for it

Who can have a check

The service is for adults aged 40 or over who have not previously had a confirmed diagnosis of high blood pressure. If your general practice has asked us to carry out a check for you, we can do that too.

Booking

You do not need to see your GP first. Speak to a member of our team in the pharmacy, or give us a call, and we will arrange a time that suits you.
